Start your fall wild writing in a small group of no more than eight of us. We’ll do two or three writes in the session. I’ll read a poem, offer prompts or “jump-off-lines” and read it again and offer the prompts again. Then we’ll write for up to fifteen minutes, pens never leaving the page, just saying yes to whatever arises. It’s a wonderful opportunity to leave your perfectionism at the door and write as poorly as possible. Really.
After each writing period, we’ll go around the circle and read what we wrote. And here’s the secret sauce of Wild Writing. We read without interruption, comment, critique or any discussion. We witness and honor each other’s voice. This fosters safety and intimacy. And, needless to say, what’s written in the room stays in the room.
Wild Writing with the same group for four weeks is an unusual opportunity to deepen your personal exploration and get to know about others’ experiences without any comment, critique or discussion of what we write.
